I am a painter. I have been a painter since I was three. I started my painting career with my Mother's lipstick. I have since moved on and now paint with artist pigments.
In October of 2009 a friend asked me to paint her Jack Russell dog for her husband's birthday. I laughed and told her I would if she would hold him still. I still have visions of that little dog painted like a Rodrique "Blue Dog". Later that same month she would have loved to have painted him in rainbow colors-{he ate the front seat of her new Mercedes}! The dog named Uncle Bob started a whole new world for me.
With donations down at our local animal shelter, I suggested that instead of paying me, that my friend make a donation to the animal or Humane Shelter of her choice, in some one's honor. The only rule I asked was that my name not be used. If my name was used I would come to your house and hang tacky art! The threat was because I wanted people to give what they wanted, anonymously, with me out of the equastion.
This has become such a wonderful project for me. As I sit or stand and paint these "Beloved Pets", sometimes my own two studio helpers, Petie and Baby, watch what I am doing, most of the time they just snore as only little shiz tsu can.
I still paint other subjects that are for sell, just not the animals. I consider the animal paintings almost a holy project. I am fortunate that can give this gift because I have my family's full support and love.
I hope my "Families of The Pets" are enjoying their paintings. I hope that they know that they are honoring their pet in the kindest way possible. My heart is full of love for these wonderful people in a small town.
